Country singer Chely Wright, known for hits "Single White Female" and "Jezabel," is the latest celebrity to reveal homosexuality after years of hiding her sexual orientation for the sake of her music career.
According to The Chicago Tribune, the singer revealed she is gay during an interview with People magazine.
"Nothing in my life has been more magical than the moment I decided to come out," Wright told the magazine.
Wright released her memoir, Like Me, and a new album, Lifted off the Ground, this week.
Wright told People she was the first Country music artist to come out. However, Chicago Tribune reports K. D. Lang, who got her start in Country Music, came out in an interview with The Advocate magazine in the early ‘90s.
