For the first time, hit series
CMT Crossroads has invited two former guests,
John Mayer and
Keith Urban, to return to their stage. Both Mayer and Urban are Grammy winners and known for their singing, songwriting and massive guitar skills. The episode was taped before an invitation only audience in Nashville and will premiere on Friday, June 18, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.
The duo entertains the crowd with collaborations on several of Urban's hits, including “If Ever Could I Love,” “’Til Summer Comes Around” and “Sweet Thing.” Mayer will showcase his popular hits “Perfectly Lonely” and “Gravity.” The two close the show with a cover of George Michael’s “Faith.”
Mayer was first featured in an episode of Crossroads with Brad Paisley in May 2004. Urban made his Crossroads debut with John Fogerty in February 2005. Since the series began in 2002, this marks the first time artists will come back to the stage after appearing on the show previously.
After debuting his first album, Room For Squares, in 2001, Mayer has earned seven Grammy Awards and sold more than 15 million albums worldwide. For two years in a row, the legendary Rolling Stone magazine featured Mayer on the cover for their annual “Guitar” issue. Mayer was also featured in Time magazine’s 100 list of the must influential contemporary thinkers, leaders, artists and entertainers.
Also making his big “American” break in 2001, Urban has gone on to win numerous awards, including three Grammys, five ACM Awards and three CMA Top Male Vocalist of the Year Awards, as well as CMA’s Entertainer of the Year. Urban has had 11 No. 1 hits and in December 2009 was named the year’s Top Overall Performer for Country Aircheck/Mediabase due to his continuous radio airplay.
