Before she made it big with the 5-time ACM Award-winning trio Lady Antebellum, Hillary Scott tried out for hit reality show American Idol. But Paula, Randy and Simon rejected the Country Music beauty -- twice.

"I actually tried out for 'American Idol' twice and didn't get past the first round, if that gives anyone hope," Scott said.

And while the threesome says that they haven’t had time to keep up with Idol because of their jam-packed tour schedule, they do admit they have a favorite this season.

"There's a girl named Katie that I thought was really good," said Dave Haywood, but sadly Katie Stevens was voted off the show. "When I watched, I couldn't stop watching her sing. I thought she had a great delivery, and I thought she was incredible. I'm sad to see her go!"

Lady A recognizes how hard it is to break into popular music, even with connections. "Even when we started, we had our foot in the door,” says Charles Kelley. “My brother is Josh Kelley, and Hillary's mom is Linda Davis, who sang a duet with Reba McEntire. So we already had a foot in the door -- like, 'Hey everybody, come check us out!' So we realize how hard it is to get discovered ... just to be heard!"

The group recently visited the American Idol set to perform their crossover hit “Need You Now”. The episode will air this week.
