Brooks & Dunn, Lady A, Kenny Chesney Among ACM Awards Performers

Country Music’s biggest party in April just announced a star-studded line up of performers for the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton & Trace Adkins and Carrie Underwood will all take the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The awards show, hosted by Reba, honors Country Music’s top talent as well as the industry’s rising stars. All of the scheduled performers have taken home their share of hardware from the show.
-          Jason Aldean received the Top New Male Vocalist award in 2005 and his single “Amarillo Sky” was nominated for Song of the Year and Video of the Year in 2006
-          Brooks & Dunn are ACM Award veterans. They are nominated for Top Vocal Duo of the Year, an award they have won a record 15 times, eight of those consecutively from 2000-2007. They duo will also be honored with the ACM’s Milestone Award for their 20-year record-breaking career. Brooks & Dunn have won 26 ACM Awards, the record for most wins by any artist in the Academy’s history.
-          Kenny Chesney is nominated for four awards including Entertainer of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. Currently, Chesney is one of three artists in the Academy’s history who has taken Entertainer of the Year four times. He is also nominated for Vocal Event of the Year as an artist and producer for “I’m Alive” with Dave Matthews.
-          Lady Antebellum is the top nominee with seven nominations for this year’s awards. The trio is nominated for Album of the Year, Top Vocal Group, Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year, as well as producer for Single Record of the Year and composer for Song of the Year.
-          Reba McEntire will host the event for the 12th year. She is also nominated for Top Female Vocalist of the Year. McEntire has already won 12 ACM Awards.
-          Tim McGraw has won 15 ACM Awards and has been nominated for Entertainer of the Year eight times. He received the Career Achievement award in 2006, and his last ACM Award win was in 2007 when he won Vocal Event of the Year for “Find Out Who Your Friends Are.”
-          Blake Shelton & Trace Adkins are nominated for Vocal Event of the Year for “Hillbilly Bone.” Shelton was nominated for Vocal Event of the Year in 2003 as well as being nominated twice for Top New Male Vocalist. Adkins won Top New Male Vocalist and Single of the Year in 2008.
-          Carrie Underwood is nominated for six awards including Entertainer of the Year. Underwood is the reigning Entertainer of the Year, and a win in the category this year, will make her the first female artist in the Academy’s history to win the award twice. She is nominated as an artist and composer of Song of the Year for “Cowboy Casanova” as well as for Vocal Event of the Year for “I Told You So” with Randy Travis. Additionally, she is nominated for Top Female Vocalist and Album of the Year. If she wins the Top Female Vocalist category, it will be her forth consecutive year as a winner in this category.
