Country Music star Trisha Yearwood graces the April cover of Redbook and talks about love, cooking and her family.

"When I was growing up, suppertime, as we called it, was when the family got together around the table — that was our family time," she said. "Having dinner together is something [husband Garth Brooks] and I have worked at making sure we do, because it's too easy these days not to. Everyone has their own agenda and is going in a million different directions."

Yearwood's love of food has translated twice from her kitchen table to bookstores everywhere; first with 2008's Georgia Cooking In An Oklahoma Kitchen and then again in Home Cooking With Trisha Yearwood, due out April 6.

Yearwood confesses that Brooks' first attempts at cooking with his daughters involved boxed mac and cheese and chicken tenders, but nowadays, Brooks is adventurous in the kitchen. "He is really an experimental cook," Trisha explained. "He came up with this breakfast bowl, but it's not really a recipe. It's more like a bunch of really great things thrown into a bowl."

Yearwood's favorite: anything cheese. "Macaroni and cheese is probably one of my favorite things in the world," Yearwood said. "I don't care if it's from a box or a school cafeteria. In this book, I've included a Crock-Pot recipe for mac and cheese that is one of the best things in the whole world. I can't make it that often, because I will eat the entire thing. But my motto's always been, 'Everything in moderation — including moderation.'"

The April issue of Redbook hits newsstands March 23.
