Country Music Stars Tee Off With Darius Rucker for Golf Tournament

Country Music crossover star Darius Rucker will join his former Hoote & The Blowfish bandmates for the annual Monday After The Master Pro-Am Golf Tournament.

The event will take place April 12 at The Dye Club at the Barefoot Resort in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.  Other Country Music stars including Steve Azar, Colt Ford and Jack Ingram will join Rucker and the rest of Hootie & the Blowfish for the tournament.

“Country Music artists and Country radio have really embraced me, so it’s great to see so many of my new friends joining us in an effort to raise money for the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation,” said Rucker. “Each year, the list of great athletes and celebrities continues to grow, and to know we come to Myrtle Beach to have fun and raise money for a great cause, it is without a doubt one of things I look forward to doing every spring.”

From the golf world, spectators can expect to see some familiar faces with Jim Furyk, John Daly, Woody Austi, and Rich Beem all from the PGA Tour, along with LPGA player Kristy McPherson. 

Last years tournament was won by a team of Hootie & The Blowfish lead guitarist Mark Bryan, Bill Murray and Woody Austin.  The team shot 18-under par to clench the title.

“This event has grown so much in the seven years we have held it in Myrtle Beach,” said Bryan. “Barefoot Resort is the perfect location for ‘Monday After the Masters,’ and I look forward to seeing old friends, and defending our title this year.”

Participants in the annual golfing event has typically consisted of some of the biggest names in music, television, movies sports and professional golf. Past players include actor Samuel L. Jackson, NFL stars Dan Merino and Brett Favre, Coach Steve Spurrier, ESPN's Lou Holtz, as well as golf pros Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Tom Kite, Andy North, J.B. Holmes, Kenny Perry, Ricky Barnes, Lee Elder and Robert Gamez.

Tickets for the Monday After the Masters event held by Hootie & the Blowfish are on sale through Ticketmaster.  Tickets are $15, with children under the age of 12 free of charge.  All proceeds will benefit the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which supports the educational needs of South Carolina children as well as supports the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation.  Last year's event raised $155,000 for the organization.
