Ryan Bingham, T Bone Burnett Take Home Oscar for 'Crazy Heart' Theme Song

Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett shared the stage Sunday night at the Kodak Theatre to accept their Oscar for their original song “The Weary Kind (Theme From Crazy Heart).” Bingham did most of the talking, including a dedication to his wife, Anna Axster.

“I love you more than rainbows, baby,” he said.

Crazy Heart had a good night at the Oscars, with Jeff Bridges taking home the Best Actor trophy for his role as singer-songwriter Bad Blake.

Because the film was about a musician, the music received the most attention, and when Bingham presented an unfinished version of “The Weary Kind,” it became a centerpiece for the rest of the soundtrack.
“If it’s a movie about a guy writing a song, it damn well better be a good song, and we hadn’t even approached it yet,” Burnett told The Chicago Sun-Times. “When Ryan brought in his song, there was a palpable sense of relief in the room. I think everyone at once recognized this was the song Bad was writing.”
