Brooks & Dunn have been an unstoppable, unforgettable Country Music duo for more than 20 years. But this summer, the group will say goodbye with their farewell The Last Rodeo tour. While music fans are sad to see the end of such a successful era, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn are ready to take on new challenges.

“We’re both pretty much at peace with it,” said Brooks. “We both need to move on right now. We’ve really chased everything that we know how to chase musically, as far as our stage shows. Neither one of us wanted to do this in the first place. We got put together and we said, ‘What the heck? We’ll give it a shot.’ And then next thing you know, it’s 20 years later.”
Throughout their tenure, the group has faced multiple rumors of a split. But with a loaded concert schedule, the rumors were quickly hushed. Now that the break up is official, they are already being bombarded with questions about a reunion tour.
“You gotta break up before you can get back together, and we’re still working on that,” Brooks said.
The Last Rodeo tour begins April 23 in Sacramento and tentatively ends Aug. 8 in Chicago. But before they hang up their hats and put down their guitars, the pair will receive several honors to commemorate their work. The group will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award coming up next week at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, and they will also be honored at the T.J. Martell Honors Gala in mid-April. Additionally, the Academy of Country Music will be filming a CBS special ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn—The Last Rodeo.
