Earlier this week, Country Music star Neal McCoy began a USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour in a handful of European countries. This is McCoy’s 14th USO tour, but this time he has four of ‘America’s Sweethearts’ joining him.
Four Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have agreed to join McCoy on this week-long tour to perform for troops and their families. The crew will also be signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans.
McCoy’s desire to continue this tour stems from his family’s military background. His father was Irish American and served in the military, making McCoy a strong supporter of our troops overseas. Over McCoy’s decade of work with the USO, he has performed for thousands of troops and their families in countries such as Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Bosnia and Italy.
“Touring with the USO is something I always look forward to,” said McCoy. “Having the opportunity to perform for the men and women who protect and serve this country is truly an honor and being able to share the stage with the DCC is an added bonus.”
McCoy has more than 25 hits and has accumulated 11 albums over his career. But he is most well known for his live performances, playing 220 days out of the year.
McCoy’s ‘co-hosts’ for the tour, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, are no strangers to USO entertainment themselves. They have been performing for the military for more than 30 years, with their first USO tour in 1979. But their dedication to the USO doesn’t stop with performing. They have also visited wounded soldiers, assembled care packages, mailed cards and done holiday performances. The cheerleaders were among one of the first groups to travel to Iraq with the USO and have participated in more USO tours than any other entertainment group in history.
