Brad Paisley has been one of the hottest names in Country Music for the past decade. He’s also shared the spotlight with other big name artists such as John Mayer, Keith Urban, Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood and Alison Krauss. But according to The Boot, there is still one music legend that Paisley has not had the opportunity to collaborate with.
“It’s Eric Clapton,” Paisley said. “I’ve never even met him. If I say it enough, maybe he’ll go, ‘All right, fine, shut up! I’ll do it!’”
While Eric Clapton may be a music icon, Paisley is no stranger to success himself. Since breaking onto the Country Music scene, Paisley has received three Grammys as well as over a dozen other ACM and CMA awards. While hopes to keep cranking out hits, he also realized that all good things must come to an end.
"There's a time that comes when you don't have their ear anymore," he said of fans. "Eventually, that's coming, where they're going to be tired of me. A large fraction of people are probably saying, 'Yeah, I know, buddy. I'm already there right now.' But that's coming, and I just hope that I can stretch this out for a long time. I'm 10 years into this, and I feel like people are just discovering me in a large way right now."
While Paisley does love the Country Music life, he also said you can’t prepare yourself for the negative side of the business. According to him, the criticism of such personal work is “similar to rejection of anything you get in your life.”
Paisley will continue his American Saturday Night tour with guest Miranda Lambert and Justin Moore later this year. His CD American Saturday Night was recently named the Top Album of 2009 by TIME Magazine.
