Dolly Parton, Kid Rock, Charlie Daniels Among Music City Walk of Fame Inductees

Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels, Kid Rock, the late Ernest Tubb and Hattie Louise “Tootsie” Bess (founder of Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge in Nashville) took their place on the Music City Walk of Fame Sunday.
“It strikes me in a pure place in my heart and in my soul to know that I am part of this wonderful city and all of the wonderful things that have been here," said Parton.
According to The Tennessean, Kid Rock traded barbs with Nashville Mayor Karl Dean, who introduced Kid Rock this way, "Kid Rock came to town with a bang, liked it here and visits often," Dean said. "We are glad he supports Nashville, and glad that he’s been staying out of the news when he’s here."
Rock responded during his acceptance speech.  "Mayor Dean, I’d also like to add, since you started the comments, that you have one of the finest police forces," he said. "I’ve never seen a nicer jail."
Dolly received high compliments from Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen, "Dolly Parton is much more than a star," Bredesen said. "If they have a walk someday in our state for people who just made things better, Dolly Parton will have a star on that walk."
Parton, in turn, was complimentary of Bredesen, and poked fun at the fact that Mayor Dean shares a near-identical name to her longtime husband, Carl Dean.
"It’s great to be married to the mayor and be in love with the governor," she said.
