Carrie Underwood To Receive Symphony Award

Carrie Underwood is set to receive a new honor at this year's Nashville Symphony Ball, at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Dec. 12.  The country star will be honored with the Harmony Award which recognizes her help of making Nashville the music captal.

Other country stars who have won this award include Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, LeAnn Rimes, The Judds and Steve Winwood.

Just a month before Carrie will recieve this honor, she will also co-host the CMA Awards for the second year in a row, along with Brad Paisley.  Carrie said, “You don’t want to [undermine] a classy organization where there’s people in the audience, everybody looks nice, everybody’s there for a common goal — to celebrate a wonderful year in music and celebrate each other — and people are winning things! You don’t want to get up there and be the one reason that [people think], ‘Oh, that was just an okay show.’ Or ‘That was a great show, but what’s up with the hosts?’”

Along with co-hosting the award show, Carrie is also up for two awards, one for Female Vocalists Of The Year, which she has won the past three years in a row, and one nomination for Musical Event of the Year with Randy Travis on "I Told You So."
