Two Bands Keeps Dan Tyminski Busy

Dan Tyminksi, guitarist and vocalist for Alison Krauss + Union Station, has found that adding projects starts to add lots of events to his calendar.

The Country artist recently started The Dan Tyminksi Band, which has been doing very well. He’s also been nominated for nine International Bluegrass Music Association awards, which will be handed out on Oct. 1. Both of those things are great, but along with his role in Alison’s band, he has a lot to do.

"That's the thing we're wrestling with right now - how to really make it work so that we don't have to let this band go," Tyminksi told the Columbia Daily Tribune. "Everyone has a family, and everyone has a fairly busy life. It's always worked in theory as we've sat down and worked it out on paper and said it can happen. We've never actually had both bands tour at the same time - this next year will be an interesting year. We plan on continuing on, and we're just trying to figure out how to straddle that line."

In addition to his work with Allison Krauss + Union Station, Tyminksi became popular by contributing “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” to the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” movie and performing as George Clooney’s singing voice in the film.
