Big Kenny and John Rich, of the Country duo Big & Rich, are about as opposite as they come, with one main exception: they love to entertain and sing Country Music. John Rich is a little rough around the edges while Big Kenny takes a more laid back approach to life. With such differing opinions and attitudes, one can see how the boys may need some time apart to pursue their careers as solo artists.

"You have to get the music you write out of your system," Rich told The Press of Atlantic City. "I write songs like 'Shuttin' Detroit Down' that are calling out the man. That would never be a Big & Rich song because Kenny would never say that."

Rich released his album, Son of a Preacher Man, in March. Big Kenny’s CD, The Quiet Times of A Rock and Roll Farm Boy, is due Oct. 27. Though the solo projects were necessary for the men to continue their careers as Big and Rich, fans and media are curious as to how much longer the duo will last.
“Any time you take that much time off the road, rumors are so crazy that it's over," Rich said. "If you would have seen the shows this summer, you would have understood Big & Rich is nowhere near being over."
