Lorrie Morgan is the latest star to be added to the Broadway version of Pure Country. The musical is based on the George Strait movie of the same name with Strait playing a Country Music superstar, Dusty, who wants to go back to a simpler life. Morgan's character, Dusty's manager, was played by Lesley Anne Warren in the film. Joe Nichols will portray Dusty in the musical.
"I auditioned for the part in New York and got the role," Morgan told Country Weekly. "We start rehearsals in January and the play will probably open a few weeks after that...I wasn't even looking to do something like this, but I'm very excited about it."
The musical will open in 2010.
