Carrie Underwood Outgrows First Trophy Case

Carrie-Underwood-2009-ACM-Award-Winner

Since she won American Idol in 2005, Country superstar Carrie Underwood has been on a winning streak. In four years, she has won at least one award from every major award show that recognizes artists, according to Examiner.com.

Within her first two years on the Country Music scene, Underwood received a Teen Choice Award, eight Billboard Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, two CMT Awards and two CMA Awards, including the coveted CMA Horizon Award.

In 2007, the Country star won her first two Grammy Awards, two People’s Choice Awards and 15 additional awards between the ACM Awards, CMAs, CMTs and Billboard.

It’s likely that Carrie Underwood needed a new awards case by the end of 2008 after receiving her third Grammy as well as the prestigious Female Vocalist of the Year at the ACM and CMA Awards. In Europe, her sophomore album, Carnival Ride, started climbing the charts. That same year, at age 25, she became the youngest person to ever be inducted in the Grand Ole Opry.

This year has been no different. Underwood took home three People’s Choice Awards in January, two Grammys and her third ACM in the Female Vocalist category.

Very few artists, and even fewer female artists, have achieved the kind of success that Carrie Underwood has in such a short time. That success continued to be apparent in April when Underwood won one of Country Music’s biggest awards: the ACM for Entertainer of the Year. She was the first female to win the title since 2001 and only the seventh since it was first handed out in 1970.

“I’ve had a lot of good moments in the last four years. This one takes the cake!” said Underwood during her acceptance of the award at the 44th annual Academy of Country Music awards on April 5.

But where does she keep all those awards?

That same night, Underwood told GAC that her old awards showcase can no longer accompany her winning streak. “I think I’m going to treat myself now and get a new one cause it’s so full. It’s full of many wonderful things.”

To date, Carrie Underwood has won a total of 59 awards, but she does not take that for granted. “I am waiting for the bottom to drop out. It has to,” she said. “I am too lucky”.

But if her future continues anything like the past few years, that’s not likely to happen soon. Her third album is due to be released on Nov. 3.
