A 30-year career and an astounding 20 Grammy Awards overtly qualifies Vince Gill for special recognition. LA Times News reported that on Sept. 8, Alison Krauss, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Gill's wife Amy Grant and dozens of other Country Music stars will gather to honor the man himself as part of the first-ever "Grammy Salute to Country Music."
Recording Academy chief Neil Portnow said, “Our ‘Salute To’ series pays homage to & celebrates the work of extraordinary people & organizations that continue to ensure that these genres remain vital parst of our culture."
Many may remember Gill passing up the opportunity to perform on the Grammy’s in 2008, when his record, These Days, was nominated for album of the year and lost to Herbie Hancock. Though some commotion behind the scenes was said to have occurred, Gill happily opted to be a presenter for the award show instead.
