Kenny Chesney's Sun City Carnival tour is off to a great start, minus one of the leading acts. Jennifer Nettles, vocalist for Sugarland, was encouraged to rest her injured vocal chords per her doctors’ orders, with the necessary recovery time unfortunately taking place during the middle of the tour with Chesney.
Sugarland missed three scheduled tour dates in Dallas, San Francisco and Salt Lake City. Fans unapologetically criticized Nettles for missing the concerts based on the allegation that she had booked studio time the same days she missed the shows. Whether or not Nettles booked the studio date prior to her injury has not yet been addressed.
However, CMT.com reported that Chesney released a statement showing disappointment in those who’ve bashed Sugarland’s absences, saying a proper recovery was much more worth while than any one show missed along the way. Chesney said he’s sad to not have his friend currently touring with him and understands how much the fans miss seeing Sugarland perform. Chesney ended his statement by reminding fans that their support is appreciated and critical when one’s health is suffering.
