Bridgette Tatum thought of the idea for the now hit song, "She's Country," while driving in Nashville. She pulled over in a Target parking lot and sang the words into her phone before taking her idea to co-writer Danny Myrick.
"Bridgette and I write a lot of stuff that mirrors the rock guitar riffs with southern rock country lyrics. This song is a perfect marriage of that," Myrick told TheBoot.com. "After we finished it, we did the demo with all those guitar riffs...Our demo is pretty aggressive, and it might have scared Jason a little bit, but we felt pretty confident about it.
"I had just had a single with Big & Rich and 'Loud,' and they were done recording. So I was thinking, 'Man, the only person left who could do this song is Jason Aldean.' So he was the first one we went to, and they loved it immediately."
Myrick went onto say that the song became an anthem for Country girls and took on a life of its own.
"It was amazing to watch it on the charts -- every week it made a significant move, it never slowed down, he said. "Jason sang the song on the CMA Awards last November, and the record company allowed 24 hours of free downloads after that performance. It had 20,000 downloads in 24 hours, and by now it's had more than 600,000 downloads."
