Amid a flurry of social activity at the White House, including plenty of outdoor public events featuring musical acts such as Wynton Marsalis and Earth and Wind and Fire, the Obamas are about to add Country Music into the mix.

On July 21 the White House will host a Country event, although details of who will be performing have yet to be announced. Desiree Rogers, the administration's social secretary, told The New York Daily News that the neighborhood party vibe at the White House is the administration's open-door policy.  "We want Americans feeling they're part of the house," she said.

As for Country Music, Rogers said, "They like all kinds of music," with hints that other genres, including classical and Latin, are the basis for future White House events.
