Martina McBride has partnered with the loveisrespect campaign to bring more attention to the issue of teen dating abuse. They have launched the My Time to Shine program to help young people learn that there is something they can do about abuse. It runs on the fact that young people should take their teenage years and figure out who they are and what they're passionate about in life.

McBride is enthusiastic about the cause because she is a mother of three and wants her girls to grow up in a safe environment. She also feels like other parents should be aware of what's going on in their children's lives and how to help them establish healthy relationships. McBride talked about the campaign in a statement.

"Young people today have more opportunities to make decisions about their lives, and it places a lot of pressure on them early," McBride said. "If we can help them to form healthy relationships at an earlier age in life, they will make better choices for life partners, and as a mom, I want to be part of that."

The program will run in conjunction with the tour for McBride's newest album, Shine. Fans can purchase My Time to Shine merchandise on McBride's tour and proceeds will go to help the campaign along with its other sponsor, the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline.
