kenny-chesney-turns-40 Kenny Chesney helped songwriter and fellow singer Mac McAnally celebrate as the song they recorded together, and McAnally self wrote, became the number 1 Billboard single.  “Down The Road,” is the second song that McAnally has cut for Chesney along with “Back Where I Come From.” On Monday, March 9 ASCAP threw a number 1 party for McAnally, to celebrate his first number 1 hit as an artist and a songwriter.  At the party McAnally gave Chesney the guitar he wrote both songs on as gift. “Mac told me that he wrote 'Down The Road' and 'Back Where I Come From' on this guitar,” Chesney says, “And a whole bunch of other songs over the years. It's the guitar that he's written on - and he wants me to have it. I know there are lots of songs in that guitar. Lots. For him to give it to me, as if the songs I've been fortunate enough to get to sing weren't enough, well, that may be one of the single greatest gifts anyone has ever given me.” The song, which was recorded in the studio with just vocals and an acoustic guitar, has yet to be played live.  But as Chesney will be on tour this summer promoting his latest album, Lucky Old Sun, McAnally is said to be showing up to make some guest appearances along the way.For more on Chesney and the tour visit, www.kennychesney.com.
