Music icon Linda Ronstadt will join MerleFest 2009, on Sunday, April 26, to close the four-day festival in Wilkesboro, N.C. The songstress will treat fans to a special performance of traditional mariachi songs with the Grammy-winning Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano."We are delighted to welcome Linda Ronstadt and the Mariachi Los Camperos to MerleFest this year," said Festival Director Ted Hagaman. "MerleFest has always honored traditional folk music from a variety of cultures, including Celtic and Cajun music, and we know that this performance of traditional Mexican American folk music will delight our audience and enrich the MerleFest experience."Ronstadt has a deep love for Mexican folk music, with two award-winning albums, Canciones de Mi Padre and Mas Canciones, in which the she collaborated with Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano.MerleFest 2009 will feature more than 95 performers including Emmylou Harris, Travis Tritt, Jerry Douglas, Tift Merritt, Blue Highway, The Waybacks, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, The Greencards, Dailey & Vincent, the SteelDrivers, Doc Watson and more.Early-bird ticket prices are available until March 13 at www.merlefest.org.
