The songwriters were also honored during a ceremony at the party.Paisley wrote “I’m Still a Guy” with Kelley Lovelace and Lee Thomas Miller. According to CMT.com, this is the tenth No. 1 hit that Lovelace and Paisley have written together or with other writers. Songwriters Don Sampson and Wynn Varble wrote “Waitin’ On a Woman.” Paisley also has a hit rising fast on the charts with friend Keith Urban, titled “Start a Band,” while Lovelace recently celebrated winning four awards at the ASCAP awards.“Waitin’ on a Woman” was cut for Paisley’s album, Time Well Wasted, and was meant to be a single, but ended up being put on the back burner for other songs. After fan requests and positive response to the song, Paisley and his record company decided to put the song on his latest album, 5th Gear.Writer Varble said that at first he wasn’t a fan of Paisley’s version of the song, but after a while it started to grow on him. Paisley is just thankful for the opportunity to cut the song.“If there’s a song I wish I’d written in the history of Country Music, this would be it,” he told CMT.com. “I really thought this was a masterpiece, and I knew it could be a No. 1 record.”
