Country Music star Julianne Hough joined the 2008 American Music Awards host Jimmy Kimmel to announce this year's award nominees in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Country Music will be well-represented, with Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts leading the list of potential award winners.This year's AMA nominees in various Country Music categories are as follows:
- Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney are contenders in the Male Country Artist category.
- For Favorite Female Country Artist, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are nominated.
- Brooks & Dunn, Sugarland and Rascal Flatts are nominees in the Best Band, Duo or Group category.
- Despite their recent success in Country Music, The Eagles received three nominations in the pop/rock and adult contemporary categories, as well as for the AMA's overall Artist of the Year.
- Favorite Country Music Album nominations went to Garth Brooks' The Ultimate Hits, Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride and Rascal Flatts' Still Feels Good.
Pop star Jesse McCartney was also in Los Angeles to help announce this year's American Music Award nominees.Fan voting is underway at the American Music Awards Web site, www.amavote.com. ABC will broadcast the awards show and its winners live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Nov. 23.
