Alan Jackson will be honored as the next CMT “Giant” in the 90-minute special CMT Giants.  Jackson will be honored by fellow Country artists George Strait, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Dierks Bentley, Lee Ann Womack and Miranda Lambert.   CMT Giants: Alan Jackson, will be taped in front of a live audience at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Thursday, Oct. 30. The show is a tribute to the life and music of Jackson. The show will air on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 9 p.m. EST on CMT.    Having sold more than 50 million albums and won at least 100 major awards, Jackson is respected as one of Country Music’s best artists. Jackson is the most-nominated artist in CMA history, and he is a three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year winner. He has had 16 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum albums. He also holds a Grammy for Best Country Song with his hit, “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning."  Hailing from Newnan, Ga., Jackson was the first artist signed to Arista Nashville in 1989. The following year, he debuted his first album, Here in the Real World. From that album, he had four No.1 singles. Jackson has had 21 No. 1 music videos on CMT’s Top 20 Countdown since 1991. In 2002, Jackson won the CMT Award for Video of the Year with “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)." His newest album, Good Time, is the fourth album of Jackson’s career to debut at No.1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and all-genre Billboard 200 sales charts. Good Time is the newest turning point in Jackson’s career because he was the solitary writer of all the songs on the album.Tickets for the live taping of CMT Giants go on sale Saturday, Oct. 11, and are available at www.ticketmaster.com.Reba McEntire was the first of the CMT Giants to be honored. In 2006, stars including Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Kelly Clarkson, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, LeAnn Rimes, Megan Mullally, Wynonna Judd and Dolly Parton sang McEntire’s hit songs as a tribute to her great talent and contributions to Country Music. In 2007, Hank Williams Jr. received the honor with Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Steven Tyler, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Kid Rock, Gretchen Wilson, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Buddy Guy performing classic Williams tunes.
