Country Music legend Willie Nelson, a long-time supporter of biodiesel fuel, is set to speak at the opening of a new biodiesel fuel plant in Oregon today. The SeQuential Pacific Biodiesel plant in Salem, Ore., will celebrate the opening of a 5-million-gallon per year facility, which will ensure that all diesel fuel sold in Oregon is 2 percent biodiesel. The plant is an upgrade from an existing 1-million-gallon a year plant; a loan from the state's Department of Energy helped finance the upgrade. The new plant will use 90 percent of its oil from restaurants around the Northwest. Nelson, one of the first investors in SeQuential's endeavors, was present at the groundbreaking last year. He is to perform at the Oregon State Fair this evening, taking the stage at 8.
