Thanks to the cutthroat competition that is American Idol, another Country Music graduate of the wildly popular show will grace the stage of the Grand Ole Opry when GAC airs the live performance Saturday night.
This time it’s the son of a preacher man and American Idol 6 finalist, Phil Stacey. “I’m blown away, I’m absolutely on cloud nine, this is one of the biggest experiences of my life," Stacey said of his first performance at the Opry, back in March.
And though Saturday won’t be Stacey’s first time on the famous Southern stage, the night will feature performances from his new self-titled album. Included in the night’s song line-up is Stacey’s single “If You Didn’t Love Me”, co-written by Rascal Flatts anchor Gary LeVox.
Stacey, who was prompted to join the Navy after the September 11 attacks, grew up surrounded by Southern and contemporary gospel music. His love of Country Music, like other now-famous American Idol Country Music bumpkins, spilled into his song choice on the show. His renditions of “Where the Blacktop Ends” and “I Need You” won him his greatest praise on the show.
GAC’s Grand Ole Opry airs live 8pm Saturday.
