Multi-platinum Country Music star Clay Walker is trying to change the world, one charity event at a time. Walker held his “Clay Walker Charity Classic” golf tournament on behalf of his non-profit charity, Band Against MS, June 30 to July 2 at Pebble Beach Resorts in Pebble Beach, Calif. The event raised over $72,000 to help fight Multiple Sclerosis. “Our first BAMS Charity golf event was more successful than we could have hoped for,” Walker said. “Not only did we raise over $72,000 for BAMS, but we all got to spend three days in the California sunshine on the greatest golf courses in the world – we are thrilled to announce that our inaugural tournament was a huge success.” The event featured three rounds of golf, an awards ceremony, an auction and a live performance by Walker himself. Other artists such as Miley Cyrus, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and Vince Gill autographed items to sell at the auction to help the cause. Walker himself was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a disease that affects the central nervous system, in 1996 and has been determined to fight the disease and improve the lives of people living with it ever since. The artist established his Band Against MS in 2003 to fund research programs and provide educational information for people living with the disease, which affects 2.5 million people.
