The Avett Brothers announced earlier this week they have signed with American/Columbia Records. The group is currently in the process of recording a new album. A release date has not been announced.The album will be produced by one of the biggest names in the music industry, Rick Rubin. Rubin is co-head of Columbia Records and was a co-founder of Def Jam Records. He was named producer of the year in 2007 for his work with artists such as Justin Timberlake, U2 and Red Hot Chili Peppers.The Avett Brothers were previously with North Carolina based Ramseur Records and won two Americana Music Association awards last year.For more information on the group, visit theavettbrothers.com.
