And another one bites the dust. The Country Music competition Nashville Star sent home another contestant last night. This time it was Minnesota-native Alyson Gilbert. Though Gilbert made it to the final ten contenders in the competition, Monday night was her second time in the bottom five. Her rendition of Trisha Yearwood’s “She’s in Love with The Boy” didn’t cut it for the judges. "You need to go away somewhere and find your soul, feel some hurt,” said Jewel. "I'm just not buying it." Fellow judges John Rich and Jeffrey Steele were also stingy with the compliments. Steele told Gilbert he felt she went against what the contestants were being told to do, and Rich said that while she had “moments or brilliance” in earlier performances, those moments weren’t enough anymore. Gilbert, a 29-year-old veterinarian science student at the University of Tennessee-Martin, leaves eight aspiring Country Music songbirds left to duke it out in the coming weeks.
