The International Bluegrass Association announced this week that the 2009 World of Bluegrass will take place Sept. 28 - Oct. 4 at the Nashville Convention Center. The event’s centerpiece is the twentieth anniversary of the International Bluegrass Music Awards. The Awards Show will be hosted in the Ryman Auditorium on Oct. 1.

The Business Conference will kick off the event, focusing on the business of the bluegrass genre. The conference will feature seminars and interactive discussion about the direction bluegrass music is headed, how to boost sales and showcase talent and products. The conference, which takes place Sept. 28 - Oct. 1, is themed “Finding Answers in Today’s Music Market.”

The Business Conference will also showcase more than 300 performances. Artists include Darin and Brooke Aldridge, Audie Baylock and Redline, The Bankester Family, The Crowe Brothers, The Davidson Brothers, G2 Bluegrass Band, Gold Heart, Donna Hughes, The Martins, The Quebe Sisters Band, Billy Smith and Spring Creek.

The biggest stars in bluegrass will serve fans breakfast for $20 during the Fan Feast on Friday morning, Oct. 2. Proceeds from Fan Feast ticket sales will benefit the Bluegrass Trust Fund, which helps bluegrass professionals during times of emergency need.  Proceeds will also support IBMA’s marketing and educational events to promote the genre year-round.

The Bluegrass Fan Fest will close the event, starting Oct. 2 and running through Oct. 4. More than 60 acts are scheduled to perform during the three stage set at the Nashville Convention Center.  Confirmed acts include performances by Daily and Vincent, The Del McCoury Band, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Cherryholmes, Steep Canyon Rangers, The SteelDrivers, Larry Cordle and Lonesome Standard Time, Don Rigsby and Midnight Call, Johnny Warren and Charlie Cushman, Grasstowne, Audie Baylock and Redline, The Church Sisters and a Carter Family Tribute featuring special guests. Fans will also have the opportunity to browse and buy music gear, publications, recordings, merchandise and meet artists at the 100 booth expo.

Tickets for the 2009 World of Bluegrass are available at www.imba.org or by calling 1-888-GET-IBMA.
