This week, multi-platinum artist Gary Allan released Set You Free (available now on iTunes), marking his ninth studio album. The album catapulted to #1 on the iTunes (all genre) Album Chart this morning. It’s Allan’s highest debut on iTunes to date. The lead single “Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain)” has already sold over 700,000 downloads, has been certified gold and is quickly approaching platinum. The song blazed a fire fueled trail up the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart and shows promise of being Allan’s fifth #1 hit. The album (originally slated for a March release) was moved up two months due to the overwhelming response to his single at radio.

That response is equally matched by praise for the album in the media. The Nashville Scene claims “when it comes to album-making as a series art form, Neil Young has nothing on Gary Allan.” The writer continued, “but there's at least one country hit-maker who shares common ground with sources of self-expressive substance like Neil Young, and that's Gary Allan. Both are smart, brooding, un-showy songwriter types who make clear that they're under no one's thumb and approach their albums as cohesive works.”

Early praise for the album is also pouring in from: NPR, USA Today, Billboard, Associated Press, Country Weekly, Boston Globe and Indianapolis Star, among others.

Allan is currently in Los Angeles where the Southern California native will perform on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno tonight, January 23rd (check local listings).
