When Kenny Chesney cold-called Grace Potter in 2009 to join him on “You & Tequila,” which went on to be a CMA-Award winning, Grammy-nominated, platinum- selling song, the two clicked immediately. Their musical bond continues with Grace Potter & The Nocturnals on the ‘Brothers of the Sun’ Tour with Chesney and Tim McGraw and on both of their new albums.

With his longtime co-producer Buddy Cannon, Chesney produced “Stars” and “Ragged Company” on the deluxe version of Potter’s album The Lion The Beast The Beat which was released this week.

Chesney first heard “Stars” in February. “We were hanging out in her kitchen and she grabbed her guitar and played me a verse and chorus of the song which she was still writing,” recalls Chesney. “I love the creative process. I was there when the song was born and we nurtured it through the studio and onto the record. That’s pretty cool.” Chesney and Alison Krauss also provide background vocals on the song.

“Ragged Company” first appeared on Potter’s 2006 debut album and they reprised the song with guest vocalist Willie Nelson. “It was an honor to work with Willie again,” said Chesney, who co-produced Nelson’s 2008 album Moment of Forever.

Chesney's Welcome to the Fishbowl album will be released next week and will feature Grace Potter on the song “El Cerrito Place.” “Grace brings that raw emotion out, and you feel the pain of the song that much more,” said Chesney of Potter's vocals on the song.

Welcome to the Fishbowl has already yielded the Top 10 duet “Feel Like A Rock Star” with friend and tour mate Tim McGraw and the new single, “Come Over,” which is one of the fastest rising singles of his career.
