Rob_Lowe_Headshot.jpg

He's an actor, an author and a current star on NBC's "Parks and Recreation," and now he will host the 2011 CMT Artists of the Year. Rob Lowe became a New York Times best-selling author with his debut book, Stories I Only Tell My Friends. He has starred on multiple television shows, as well as several movies, including "The Outsiders," "About Last Night…," and "St. Elmo's Fire."

"We are thrilled to have Rob Lowe host this year's event," says John Hamlin, SVP, Music Events and Talent, CMT. "Rob is a fascinating storyteller with a terrific sense of humor. Most importantly, though, his appreciation for the craft of country music is heartfelt and sincere. He is the perfect raconteur to help us celebrate the connection these five honorees make with us through their music."

The show will air on CMT Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 9 p.m. EST and will honor Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean. For more information on the performance-packed event, visit www.cmt.com/app.
