Richie McDonald Reunites With Lonestar

Lonestar_2011.jpg

Richie McDonald has returned to Lonestar! The multi-platinum country music group has reunited with their original lead singer and will tour and record a new album in 2012 for their 20th anniversary.

The first concert dates will take place overseas Feb. 26 – March 4. The four original members, keyboardist Dean Sams, drummer Keech Rainwater, lead guitarist Michael Britt and of course, Richie McDonald will perform in London, Belfast, Ireland, Zurich, Switzerland, and Mannheim, Germany. They will perform alongside Reba McEntire, Ricky Scaggs and Little Big Town. Tour dates for North America are to be announced.

The Texas-bred band has won several awards, including a 1999 ACM Single of the Year for “Amazed,” which also won the Song of the Year award, and the 2001 CMA Vocal Group of the Year. McDonald left the band for a solo career in 2007, and Lonestar
continued to tour and released their 10th album in 2010 with lead vocalist Cody Collins. The band wishes Cody the best in his future musical endeavors.

“Well, five years has come and gone since I left Lonestar,” says McDonald. “We've all tried other avenues and the fact remains that some things were just meant to be. With the Lonestar 20-year reunion approaching, Dean, Michael, Keech and I got together and have decided we have some unfinished business to take care of. I miss those crazy nights running around on stage making music with my band of brothers. Looking forward to a new chapter in the book of Lonestar and reliving some old memories and also making some new ones for the fans that have been loyal to us through thick and thin. See ya soon.”
