American Idol winner and recent 18 year old, Scotty McCreery, has just become the youngest male ever to top the all-genre chart with a debut release. His first album, Clear As Day, debuted at No. 1  on the Billboard Top 200.

In the first week, sales of Scotty's album reached 196,739. It has been eight years since an American Idol winner topped the charts with their debut album.

"My hopes were just to go out there and have fun and let people know that the album was out there," says Scotty. "Everybody hopes for the number one, but you never really expect it. To see it up there is pretty incredible."

At Scotty's "Album Release Party Homecoming Concert and Birthday Celebration," he was given a gold record by Mercury Nashville and Interscope in honor of his success. Scotty's song, "I Love You This Big," reached gold certification in digital sales.

"What a fantastic few days this has been for Scotty," says American Idol creator and executive producer, Simon Fuller. "He turned 18 on Sunday and now he has the number one-selling album in America, an incredible achievement for someone so young. Scotty is a true talent. He will stand the test of time, and I am honored to be helping guide his career."

Be sure to catch Scotty on Oct. 19 singing the national anthem at Game One of the World Series!
