Monday, Sept. 19, was a night to remember for the scores of country stars who flocked to the Ryman Auditorium to take part in the annual ACM Honors. Hosted by Joe Nichols, the night was designed to pay tribute to the entertainers who have greatly impacted country music.
Many stars were honored for their part in elevated the country music industry, including Taylor Swift. The busy, young starlet took time out of her concert schedule to attend the awards and took home the Jim Reeves International Award. The award is given to artist who have aided in the international acceptance of country music, and with tour dates in Asia, Europe, New Zealand and Australia, Taylor has certainly done that.
Reba, who announced she is coming back to television in a new show, "Malibu Country," won the ACM Career Achievement Award. This award is given to those who spread country music to the world through multiple platforms.
Other honorees include Garth Brooks and the Gatlin Brothers, John Dorris, Tom T. Hall and Hank Cochran. But it was not only the stars who were honored at the ACM event. The Tex Ritter Film Award, which is designed to honor movies that incorporate country soundtracks, was given to the 2010 film, Country Strong. Time McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow star in the movie and contribute to the soundtrack.
