Bill Monroe To Be Honored At Commemorative Concert

The Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe, will be commemorated Sept. 28 with a concert honoring the 100th anniversary of his birth. Bill, who passed away in 1996, is famous for developing bluegrass and has had many successful songs including, "Blue Moon of Kentucky," "Uncle Pen" and "In The Pines."
 
The Nashville concert will include performances by Ricky Skaggs, the Del McCoury Band, Roland White and the Nashville Bluegrass Band, along with a few others.  It will be held at Ingram Hall at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music. Tickets for the concert are free, but you must have a ticket to get in the door. Tickets are available now at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the administrative office at Blair.
