Bucky Covington went to Ormond Beach, Fla. to play during the NASCAR race week celebration, but he left with a new addition on his police record. The 33-year-old American Idol star was charged with grand theft after money from the July 4 concert was reported missing.
When William Fuller, the promoter of the NASCAR week events, found about $1,500 missing from the concert's proceeds, he had no doubt that the perpetrators were Covington and his family. Covington was also accused of selling tickets at the front gate and keeping the money.
While Covington claims he and his family are innocent, Fuller has four witnesses who back up his story. Bucky and his twin brother Rocky Covington were arrested in 1998 for multiple charges, including a hit and run, giving false information to a police officer, resisting arrest, along with a few others.
Even with his current trouble with the law, Covington still continues his Hometown tour, heading to West Virginia and Texas this week.
