Not many singers can boast of having talents as varied as Aaron Tippin’s. This Saturday, July 9th, the country star will not only perform a concert on the wing of a B-24 plane at the Garfield County Regional Airport in Rifle, CO, he will be the one flying the plane to the air show before he performs! The air show is annual, but this year it is being held in celebration of the opening of the new airport in Rifle

Aaron, who is a certified aircraft and power plant mechanic in addition to being a singer, says that flying just came naturally to him. “My dad was a pilot, so flying and airplanes are in my blood. Flying was just the Tippin thing to do. I started working at the airport when I was fourteen; I flew solo and got my private license at 16; got my commercial and multi-IFR at 18.” He currently owns several planes, including a 1941 Stearman, a 1946 J3 Cub and 1959 Helio Curior, and has his own hanger and landing strip on his farm.

As a spokesman for the Commemorative Air Force, Aaron speaks and performs at many CAF events all across the country and will begin his Red, White, and Loud Tour later this year. He is currently finishing up his training to fly a B-29, since he will be touring with one of the world’s most famous war planes, the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, FIFI.

Admission to and parking at the air show are free. For more information, call the Rifle Airport at (970) 625-1091 or visit www.rifleairport.com or visit www.aarontippin.com for information about the artist.
