With a new album scheduled to release this fall, a collaboration between ACR and EMI Records Nashville, Alan Jackson’s new single provides fans a taste of what is to come. The song, titled “Long Way to Go,” was released today, though there was already talk surrounding it after it was previewed for radio programmers last week.

Known for songs such as “Where I Come From” and “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning),” Jackson’s new single is already being praised as “pure Alan, and it totally fits in!” by Marty McFly of WKDF Nashville. The nationwide response has been positive as well, with Erik Johnson of KTXT Omaha calling it “exactly the type of song we've been waiting for from AJ,” and Buzz Jackson of KIIM Tucson saying that “This week country music got a much-needed reboot when new Alan Jackson music arrived." Jackson explained that he wrote the song because it “seems like every time you turn around lately there’s just something heavy going on in the world, so I felt like singing something that was kind of light and fun.”

Though the song is new, Jackson’s success in the country music business certainly isn’t. With more than 50 Top 10 hits, he has also won two Grammys, 17 ACM Awards, 16 CMA Awards, the ASCAP Founders Award, and has sold almost 60 million albums worldwide.
