Fourteen-time Grammy award winner, Ricky Skaggs, has announced his new album, Country Hits Bluegrass Style, to be released on June 19. The album holds 14 songs that have been shared with audiences from his current Treasure Chest Tour.

“For years now I’ve had fans come up and ask me to do a CD that would have my old country hits on it. So here it is, done a little different than the original recordings,” says Skaggs. “These were done in more of a bluegrass style. Folks have loved it when we play them on the road. Sure hope you love them too.”

In the 80s, Skaggs was the man who “single-handedly” saved country music, according to renowned guitarist and producer, Chet Atkins. He released 12 consecutive Grammy nominated classics and started his own record label, Skaggs Family Records in 1997.

“We did such good music in the 1980s and early '90s that a lot of fans still shout out 'Honey (Open That Door),' and I felt like we needed to do those songs for them, too,” says Skaggs.

The album is a completion of number 1 Hits and fan-favorites reworked in a country and bluegrass style. Some of the songs include, “Crying My Heart Out Over You,” “I Don’t Care,” “Cajun Moon,” “Country Boy,” and many more.

Skaggs and his band Kentucky Thunder are currently on their 2011 Treasure Chest Tour.
